BFTA GP 9 Sywell

The final GP came to us in the Fendlands and we put on a perfect show . 2 whistles all day which is very good. The first one was a target call and the second was for T1 15mm Crozilla which had a string snap late on in the afternoon . I think I need to change this to the black as it is so much stronger.

AM session we had 3 come out on top with 45/50 Numo, Dylan and James Head . Very good shooting in that wind and at Sywell . Numo should move up here he seems to like the Sywell wind.

Afternoon session and Justin Wood came in with a 46/50 topping the leader board. Had the wind died down a bit from the AM session, I don’t know but still great shooting with his new XTI50

Shooters from the FFTA come in with some good scores too .

Red Gallagher with a good 45/50, That’s Red getting back to form.

Andy Pearson on a 44/50 and gave him 3rd position in the overall GP Standings for AA . That is some shooting considering Andy does all his disciplines standing.

David Elvin on a 42/50 good going after setting the course for 2 hard days beforehand.

Jacob Kay 40/50

A nice comeback for Simon Ayers with a 39/50

And then Steve Lyon with a 38/50 which gave him 3rd position in B grade in the overall standings

Then we head to the machine of the overall winner of the 2023 Piston Grade Gareth Clarke who hit a 36/50 and joint top Piston score in the day . Mega shooting .

Tony Yerrell managed to secure a 3rd overall and a 34/50 on the day.

Also on the Sillies Andy Pearson come away with 2nd overall with Jamie Squires just beating him .

I’m sure this will make the Winter League a tough one. We start on the 1st October and yes back to Sywell for that one . Any more surprises we will have to see.

Quality shooting by all

Rnd 6 Colne Valley

With another good turn out for the FFTA winter league all was good. Richard had set us a good all round course up at Colne and with the cold start and very little wind we knew it would be a high scoring round.

Top score for the day came from Hereward’s Red Gallagher with only 1 miss out of 30 targets . Very good going.

Spring was high scoring too with Nathan and Tony Y coming in with a 3(27). Neil and myself partnered Nathan and that was very impressive shooting from Nathan. With those two at the top of their game the Paul James British Recoiling Championship is going to get very interesting to watch in just over a months time. If you are interested in taking part in this competition booking will start at the beginning of February

A few whistles on the day due to sticky targets in the frost and a failure on anther stand but the Colne Valley crew come to hand very quickly to get the shoot started again.

Hopefully we will see you all at Lea Valley on the 19th February for the presentation shoot. We are stating at 9.30 for this one with briefing at 9.15. If you could be there and sign in by 8.45 this will help the stats team sort the lanes out prior to shoot.

Good day to you all

Phil
